Deputies Warn Of 2 Attempted Child Abductions In Jefferson County
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office has stepped up patrols after two attempted child abductions, deputies said.
JEFFERSON COUNTY, CO — Deputies are warning of two recent attempted child abductions in Jefferson County.
The latest attempted abduction occurred around 5:40 p.m. Friday in the 11900 block of W. Temple Drive, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said.
Two siblings — a 7-year-old girl and a 9-year-old boy — were walking near their home when a man turned his car around, got out, and tried to give the children a "skip it" toy, authorities said.

The boy's father saw the incident and when he approached the suspect, he dropped the toys and took off in the car, the sheriff's office said.
The suspect was described as a white man, possibly in his 30s, with a medium build and dark facial hair that may have been salt and pepper. He was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and jeans, and may have been wearing a baseball cap, authorities said.

The first attempted child abduction occurred Tuesday at Harriman Lake Park, deputies said.
A 9-year-old girl was walking with her friend around 7:20 p.m. on the Weaver Gulch Trail south of West Quincy Avenue and South Kipling Street, when a suspect grabbed the 9-year-old by the shoulder, and she screamed, the sheriff's office said. He then ran west.
The suspect was wearing a black bandana, a black hoodie, sunglasses and dark pants with a hole in the knee, deputies said. His age and height were not known.
It's unknown whether the two attempted child abduction incidents are related, the sheriff's office said.
