LAKEWOOD, CO — A Lakewood restaurant that's created 58 years of memories for Coloradans is set to close at the end of September. Known for its classic lasagna, pizza and spaghetti dishes, Dino's Italian Food has been a mainstay at 10040 W Colfax since 1961.

Dino's has weathered many storms, including some literal ones — the restaurant sustained serious damage in the notorious May 2017 hail storm that destroyed many west metro Denver buildings.

Many locals have been posting their happy memories on Dino's Facebook page since hearing about the restaurant's imminent closure. People who dined on meatballs as kids are now taking their own children for one last goodbye meal.

Dino DiPaolo opened the restaurant in May of 1961, and passed it along to his daughter Judy Duren. She told 9News that the restaurant hasn't been able to fully recover from the 2017 hail storm, and replacing much of its old equipment and infrastructure would make the mainstay unrecognizable.

Duren said the restaurant will announce an auction soon for Dino's furniture and items.
