Firefighter Camp For Girls Has Openings In Lakewood
Camp Ember, co-sponsored by Red Rocks Community College, gives young women experience to see what firefighting is really like.
LAKEWOOD, CO -- What's the difference between the word "fireman" and the word "firefighter?" To the ears of a young girl, the first tells her it's not possible and the second "gives her a little bit of belief," said Rachel Kohler female firefighter and founder of Camp Ember.
Applications are now open for the second year of the Lakewood-based free 4-day camp for girls who want to explore firefighting.
Hosted by Red Rocks Community College, West Metro Fire Protection District, and Arvada Fire Protection District, Camp Ember is offered to young women ages 16-18, from May 31-June 3, 2018.
