Free & Low-Cost Activities In July At Lakewood Parks

From Aquatics to Zumba, Lakewood offers special events in the month of July for Park and Recreation Month.

LAKEWOOD, CO – The City of Lakewood's Parks and Recreation department wants to make sure residents are aware of all of the services and recreation opportunities available in the city's parks and recreation centers. July is Park and Recreation Month, and Lakewood's parks will offer free and low-cost activities for residents from kids to seniors, and for people of all abilities.

Activities throughout the month will include:

  • an outdoor family-friendly movie (The LEGO Ninjago Movie on July 15 at Lakewood Heritage Center)
  • community yoga
  • family nature programs
  • family swim nights
  • free general admission days at two recreation centers (July 13 at Lakewood Link; July 26 at Green Mountain Recreation Center)
  • meditation in the park
  • pickleball social
  • Pilates, AQUA ZUMBA, ZUMBA and Les Mills CXWORX demonstrations and class series

“During Park and Recreation Month and throughout the year, we strive to introduce residents to the health and wellness opportunities in Lakewood,” said Recreation Manager Peggy Boccard in a press release. “Drop by one of our newly renovated playgrounds to enjoy family time, walk a park trail, enroll kids in a summer camp, join a sports league or participate in a SilverSneakers fitness program for older adults. We offer hundreds of programs to help our residents enjoy a great quality of life.”

Lakewood has been refurbishing many of the city's 102 parks with more than 180 miles of walking, biking, hiking and equestrian trails.

Lakewood's four recreation centers offer drop-in activities including weight/cardio rooms, basketball, volleyball, pickleball and swimming. The city also has one older adult community center with a Volunteers of America meal site; and seven aquatic facilities.
