LAKEWOOD, CO – A team of teachers at Green Mountain High School were honored with a $15,000 grant at the Sept. 18 Succeeds Prize for Excellence in Education Innovation awards.
The Green Mountain team of Principal Colleen Owens, teachers Scott Burke, and Tracy Csavina and Administrator Lora Bong beat out five other high school finalists for a proposal called "Innovative Thinking: Geometry in Construction."
The prize was awarded by a judging panel "business leaders, entrepreneurs, and education innovators," according to the organization. The prize is presented by 9NEWS, Colorado Succeeds, and mindSpark Learning. The prize winnings will, in part, be used to expand the project to curriculum at other Jefferson County schools, according to a press release.
