Lakewood Motorcycle Officer Seriously Injured In Crash: Police

The police officer was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, police said. Two other people were also injured in a three-vehicle crash

LAKEWOOD, CO — A Lakewood police officer was seriously injured after a crash at the intersection of Colfax Avenue and Vance Street, police say.

Colfax Avenue was shut down in both directions between Wadsworth Boulevard and Teller Street.

"Your prayers are appreciated," police said in a tweet.

The crash happened around 1 p.m. Police said two other cars were involved and another driver was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.

Both injured parties were taken to St. Anthony Hospital, said Commander Mark Reeves of the Lakewood Police Department. As of 5 p.m., Thursday, the officer remained in serious condition, and the department did not know the condition of the other driver.

No other injuries were reported.

Two photos posted by police showed a motorcycle crashed onto the street with debris lying around and a white SUV with damage to the front.
