Lakewood Senior Center Fire: 1 Hurt, Several Units Uninhabitable
The fire broke out at Brookdale Meridian Lakewood early Friday. One person was hospitalized.

LAKEWOOD, CO — A fire ignited early Friday at a senior center in Lakewood and one person was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, according to firefighters.
The blaze ignited around 4:30 a.m. Friday at Brookdale Meridian Lakewood, near West Jewell Avenue and Balsam Street. Flames burned through the roof above a unit, leaving several units "uninhabitable," West Metro Fire tweeted. Those residents will be relocated.
When firefighters with West Metro Fire arrived, they found a massive inferno at the facility. Orange flames billowed out of the senior center into the night sky, video showed.

Photos provided by West Metro Fire showed firefighters using a ladder to reach the third floor. The fire was extinguished, though crews were searching around 6 a.m. for hot spots in the attic. Investigators were still at the senior center.
