Man Sentenced To 24 Years To Life For Lakewood Sexual Assaults

"Darrell Wall is a serial rapist who targeted the most vulnerable people in our community," the Jefferson County chief deputy DA said.

LAKEWOOD, CO — A man was sentenced Tuesday to 24 years to life in prison for sexually assaulting five women in Lakewood, the 1st Judicial District Attorney's Office said.

Darrell Eugene Wall, 51, was found guilty in October of two counts of sexual assault, one count of unlawful sexual contact with force and two counts of unlawful sexual contact.

A woman reported a sexual assault to the Lakewood Police Department in October 2019. She was able to identify Wall, and an investigation was launched, the DA's office said.

Investigators found four other women who also reported that they were sexually assaulted by Wall in 2018 and 2019, the office said.

All five women said they were "loosely acquainted" with Wall after meeting him along West Colfax Avenue in Lakewood, according to the DA.

“Darrell Wall is a serial rapist who targeted the most vulnerable people in our community — the unhoused and those struggling with substance abuse and other health challenges, who lacked helpful support systems,” said Katharine Decker, chief deputy district attorney, in a statement.

“By targeting the most vulnerable and least likely to have help, Darrell Wall succeeded for a time in evading prosecution. But thanks to the diligence of law enforcement and the bravery and resilience of these women, we were able to ensure that he cannot continue to exploit the most vulnerable in our community.”

Under Colorado’s Lifetime Supervision of Sex Offenders Act, Wall will stay in prison indefinitely, until it is determined that he will not "pose an undue threat to the community if released," the DA's office said.
