Free Outdoor Fitness Center Opens In Lakewood
A new $25,000 fitness area is set to open Wednesday outside the Green Mountain Recreation Center.
LAKEWOOD, CO — A new $25,000 outdoor fitness court is set to open Wednesday outside the Green Mountain Recreation Center in Lakewood.
The National Fitness Campaign awarded the new court to the city through an initiative with the Colorado Parks and Recreation Association that aims to build and fund healthy infrastructure.
The new court, at 13198 W. Green Mountain Drive, is the campaign's second free outdoor gym in Lakewood — an outdoor court opened in 2019 at Addenbrooke Park.

The Green Mountain Recreation Center outdoor gym will be available for adults of all ages and will cater to all fitness levels. With the Fitness Court app, participants can take classes and learn workout routines.

"We are thrilled that Lakewood will be the second city in the country to offer two Fitness Courts to our residents," said Brent Berninger, recreation manager with the city of Lakewood.
"Addenbrooke's court proved a worthwhile investment during the pandemic providing a free and safe space for residents to access world class fitness outdoors."
Residents are invited to attend an opening day launch party for the new fitness court from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday.
National Fitness Campaign, a social enterprise founded in San Francisco 1979, partners with local communities and nationwide sponsors to promote healthy infrastructure. The campaign is operating in more than 150 cities.
