Windstorm Blamed For Several Fires In Lakewood: West Metro Fire

In one of those fires in Lakewood, firefighters rescued a parrot from a house.

LAKEWOOD, CO — First responders blamed Wednesday's windstorm on at least two fires in Lakewood.

West Metro Fire Rescue rescued a parrot from a house following an attic fire in the 1900 block of S. Cody Way. Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames.

Crews said the fire was potentially caused by an electrical issue stemming from the windstorm, which pulled down a tree and took down a power line nearby.
