Woman Dies In 5-Car Lakewood Wreck: Police

No charges have yet been filed against male driver, 47, thought to be at fault. The accident closed Colfax and Kipling intersection Sunday.

LAKEWOOD, CO – Tuesday, Lakewood Police Spokesman John Romero said a 47-year-old male driver thought to be at-fault in a five-car pileup that killed a female driver was still hospitalized. Drugs and/or alcohol-impaired driving may have contributed to the incident, police said Sunday.

No charges have yet been filed. The busy intersection of West Colfax Avenue and Kipling Street was closed for most of the afternoon Sunday.

Police said around 12:45 p.m. Sept. 30, the 25-year-old female driver's car was rear ended while she was stopped at a red light at the intersection. Her car was pushed into the intersection, where it was struck by three other cars.

Streets reopened around 6 p.m. As of Sunday night, no charges had been filed, police said.

Police did not identify the woman killed.
