Mrs. Claus for a Cause returns Dec. 19-21 (montrosebusinesstimes.com) — Montrose families can tap into free toys, coats, haircuts, and more when Mrs. Claus for a Cause returns to Friendship Hall Dec. 19–21, with a special needs day on Sunday. Organizers expect to serve 3,500 children and still need volunteers, trailers, hairdressers, and donations, especially gifts for babies, older kids, and teens.

Maverick Powers made second team, while quarterback/defensive back Cade Saunders earned honorable mention. Colorado whitewater parks inhibit fish migration, CPW study finds (denvergazette.com) — Montrose’s whitewater park on the Uncompahgre River is part of a new Colorado Parks and Wildlife study finding that man-made whitewater features can seriously hinder fish migration. Researchers modeled conditions before and after construction and discovered especially low passage rates for flannelmouth suckers, raising questions about how recreation design here and statewide affects river health.
