1. What is Pueblo's 24th Street Bridge and Downtown Corridor Project? (chieftain.com) — Pueblo City Council has approved a $3.3 million agreement to design the 24th Street Bridge and Downtown Corridor, a key step toward connecting 24th Street over the BNSF tracks into Downtown Pueblo. Funded through a federal BUILD grant, the project aims to improve access while easing neighborhood traffic, with construction to follow once additional grant money is secured.
   

2. Drew Dix, MoH hero, to receive award at Greater Pueblo Chamber's gala (chieftain.com) — Pueblo residents can look ahead to the Greater Pueblo Chamber’s 115th annual gala on Jan. 30, 2026 at the Pueblo Convention Center, where hometown Medal of Honor recipient Drew Dix will be honored as Citizen of the Year. Pueblo Water and volunteer Carol Rickman will also be recognized for boosting local recreation, CSU Pueblo traditions, and community engagement, with tickets available to both members and nonmembers.
   

3. 'We all have the heart to help,' A Pueblo nonprofit expands beyond syringe program to offer more services (koaa.com) — A Pueblo nonprofit, SoCo Harm Reduction in Bessemer, is broadening its services beyond syringe access to offer free showers, clothing, and reentry support for people leaving prison. Leaders hope to partner with local groups to create a one-stop hub for wellness, treatment, and career resources, and they’re actively inviting Pueblo residents to use services or volunteer.
   

4. Woman sentenced to 45 years in prison for death of 3-year-old boy in Pueblo County (kktv.com) — A woman has been sentenced to 45 years in state prison for the death of a 3-year-old boy whose abuse was investigated by Pueblo County deputies and treated at a Pueblo hospital. Investigators say the case also revealed signs of abuse involving a 14-year-old boy, and the child’s mother still faces ongoing charges while both women remain in the Pueblo County Jail.
   

5. Colorado Springs ties daily high record ahead of fire weather watch (gazette.com) — A fire weather watch issued by the National Weather Service in Pueblo will cover much of southeastern Colorado on Wednesday, driven by unusually warm, dry conditions. While El Paso and Pueblo counties currently have very little land classified as abnormally dry, officials still urge residents to stay alert, prepare go-kits, and follow Colorado Springs Fire Department guidance on outdoor burning and evacuation readiness.
