• Pitkin County makes ‘historic' purchase to protect land near Snowmass (aspentimes.com) — A 650-acre ranch just outside Snowmass Village has been bought by Pitkin County and The Wilderness Land Trust to prevent luxury home development and eventually fold it into the Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness. The $34 million deal protects key trail access, wildlife habitat, and the Snowmass Creek watershed, with strong backing from the town of Snowmass Village and other regional partners while federal funding is sought to reimburse the county. 
• Wintersköl begins today (aspendailynews.com) — Wintersköl kicks off today with four days of events stretching from Snowmass Village to downtown Aspen, including Winter Windows displays, free s’mores, and evening film screenings. Snowmass hosts rink games, live music, artisan markets, Terrain Park Boot Camps, and family-friendly activities alongside Aspen’s torchlight parade, beer festival, and comedy shows, giving locals plenty of ways to celebrate winter close to home.
