2 Injured In Labor Day Rollover Crash In Plainville: Police

The Route 72 accident caused traffic to be detoured Monday afternoon, according to police.

PLAINVILLE, CT — Two people were injured in a one-vehicle rollover crash on Route 72 eastbound on Labor Day, state police said.

The accident, which happened around 4:19 p.m., prompted investigators to temporarily close the roadway and divert traffic.

Police said a 2006 Toyota Corolla was traveling on Route 72 in the area of Exit 4 in Plainville when it crashed.

“For an unknown reason, (the vehicle) veered left, entered the grassy median, commenced into a roll over event, and came to an uncontrolled final rest on its roof,” the accident report states.

The driver, a 31-year-old male Newington resident, and passenger, a 30-year-old female New Britain resident, were both taken to the Hospital of Central Connecticut, New Britain campus, for treatment.

The passenger subsequently was transported to Hartford Hospital for further treatment, police said.

Police said Tuesday the two occupants’ injuries are not considered to be life-threatening. The vehicle had to be towed due to the extent of the damage.

As of Tuesday, the accident remains under investigation, with no enforcement action taken.
