The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner on Monday said Gibbons’ cause of death is “pending further studies.”

Police said no other vehicles at the scene were involved, and none of these vehicles’ operators witnessed what happened.

According to Ciuci, police are trying to determine if the accident might have been weather-related or a hit-and-run.

“Locating witnesses and potential video capturing the incident are extremely important to our investigation,” he said.
