CHESHIRE, CT — Cheshire will pay $850,000 to settle a lawsuit filed by the mother of an 11-year-old girl who died by suicide after being bullied by classmates in the weeks leading up to her death in December 2018, according to Hearst Connecticut Media.
Hearst reports the settlement, which needs to be approved by a probate judge, was reached with the school district’s insurance carrier.
Anjelita Estrada, who was a sixth-grade student at Doolittle Elementary School, died on Dec. 23, 2018. Her death was ruled a suicide by the state Chief Medical Examiner's Office.
