Child Drowns In Pool At A Home: Plymouth Police

PLYMOUTH, CT — Sad news to share Tuesday night. A child has drowned in a pool in Plymouth, police said.

At 12:04 p.m. the Plymouth Police Department received a call of a possible drowning on Magnolia Lane in the Terryville section of the Town of Plymouth.

The Plymouth Police Department, the Plymouth Volunteer Ambulance Corps, and the Terryville Fire Department responded. Additional medical services also responded to the scene to provide assistance. Police located a male child victim, who was immediately treated and then transported to Bristol Hospital for additional medical treatment, police said.

Police said when crews arrived, the child was found unresponsive in the pool.

"Despite lifesaving efforts performed by all emergency services involved, the child was pronounced deceased," police said. "Many of us at the Plymouth Police Department have children of our own and cannot imagine what loved ones are feeling. We send our deepest condolences to the child’s family, and we ask that you respect their privacy during this difficult time."

The official cause of death has not yet been determined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner; this is an ongoing investigation pending the results of the autopsy, police added.
