Here's Where Connecticut Ranks On List Of Most-Educated States

Connecticut is among a group of states leading the way when it comes to education, according to a new study.

CONNECTICUT — Connecticut is ranked No. 5 in a list of the most-educated states in the country, according to a recent study from personal finance website WalletHub. Massachusetts topped the list for the second year in a row.

To determine the most and least educated states, WalletHub compared the 50 states across two key dimensions, educational attainment and quality of education in its "Most & Least Educated States in America (2025)."

Connecticut ranked No. 5 in educational attainment and No. 6 in quality of education. It ranked No. 3 in graduate or professional degree holders and No. 4 in average university quality.

“There’s a strong correlation between being more educated and receiving higher compensation," WalletHub analyst Chip Lupo said. "The most educated states provide high-quality educational experiences from elementary school all the way to graduate programs, which helps parents raise children in an environment that gives them as many opportunities as possible. The top states also provide equitable schooling conditions, with low racial and gender gaps in educational attainment.”
