CT Coronavirus Updates: Positive Test Rate Reaches 1-Month High

The state had its highest one-day positive test rate since Aug. 11, according to state Department of Public Health officials.

CONNECTICUT — Connecticut reported another 89 coronavirus cases Wednesday out of nearly 6,000 test results for a positive test rate of 1.5 percent.

The test rate was the highest daily level since Aug. 11's report, when the state had a 1.4 percent positive test rate. However, it only represents one batch of data and previous days had positive test rates below 1 percent.

Hospitalizations increased by seven patients up to 57 patients. No new coronavirus-related deaths were reported.

There have now been 53,871 confirmed coronavirus cases in the state since the pandemic began in March. The number of reported deaths remained at 4,474. Nearly 1.3 million tests have been administered.

Fairfield County: 18,405 confirmed cases; 754 probable cases; 1,103 confirmed deaths; 314 probable deaths; and 9 current hospitalizations.


Hartford County: 13,123 confirmed cases; 673 probable cases; 1,107 confirmed deaths; 321 probable deaths; and 20 current hospitalizations.


Litchfield County: 1,673 confirmed cases; 79 probable cases; 119 confirmed deaths; 20 probable deaths; and 5 current hospitalizations.


Middlesex County: 1,434 confirmed cases; 65 probable cases; 155 confirmed deaths; 38 probable deaths; and 2 current hospitalizations.


New Haven County: 13,407 confirmed cases; 470 probable cases; 959 confirmed deaths; 150 probable deaths; and 15 current hospitalizations.


New London County: 1,581 confirmed cases; 68 probable cases; 81 confirmed deaths; 27 probable deaths; and 6 current hospitalizations.


Tolland County: 1,118 confirmed cases; 82 probable cases; 51 confirmed deaths; 14 probable deaths; and 0 current hospitalizations.


Windham County: 818 confirmed cases; 10 probable cases; 14 confirmed deaths; 1 probable death; and 0 current hospitalizations.

There are still some places in Connecticut that have not reported one coronavirus case yet. They are: Canaan and Scotland. Canaan is a town in Litchfield County with a population of around 1,200 people and Scotland is a town in Windham County with a population near 1,700 people.

And as for which community has the most cases, it's Bridgeport with 3,996, followed by Stamford (3,500); Hartford (2,949); New Haven (2,947); Danbury (2,520); Waterbury (2,197); and Norwalk (2,136).
