CT Power Outages Town-By-Town: Eversource Hits Restoration Goal
Eversource hit its goal to have the vast majority of power back for its customers by Tuesday night.
CONNECTICUT — Eversource has reduced its outages to below 1 percent by Tuesday night. Around 8,600 customers remain without power as of 8:30 p.m.
Eversource officials said that the company has replaced 550 miles of downed wire from the storm, 2,000 utility poles and 1,000 damaged transformers. The company has also helped remove 10,000 downed trees.
Eversource in total had around 1 million total power outages from the storm, the company said in a statement.

"We remain committed to this massive restoration, and expect all 149 communities we serve to be substantially complete by midnight. Crews will stay on the job until our remaining ~30,000 customers have power," Eversource officials said.
If you're curious what "substantially complete" means, Eversource defines it as "....we have restored power to the majority of customers and less than 1% of the community remains without power, including individual customers where additional on-site work is required."

United Illuminating has just 235 outages across its territory, which is only 0.1 percent of its customer base. The majority of those are in Shelton.
Several mayors and first selectmen across Connecticut have said both utility companies need better communication and coordination. Westport First Selectman Jim Marpe’s town had around 97 percent of its Eversource customers out at one point. The main frustration for Marpe was Eversource’s communication; Westport officials didn’t know the location or number of Eversource crews in town most of the time.
