CT Weather: 2-4 Inches Of Snow Forecast, Ice Too On Thursday

It's snowing in Connecticut Thursday morning and here is a look at the forecast based on where you are.

CONNECTICUT — Most of the state is looking at about two inches of snow, then a period of mixed precipitation and then plain rain on Thursday.

The precipitation began as snow early Thursday and the mixing is forecast in the late morning hours and the precipitation should be plain rain during the afternoon.

"Today is a *First Alert Weather Day.* Initially, we’ll see snow statewide at the onset around sunrise. As the morning progress, coverage and intensity ramp up, leading to reduced visibility. Milder air begins to move in aloft by mid-morning, from south to north. When this happens, we’ll see a switch from snow to an icy mix of sleet and freezing rain. Prior to the switch, we expect 2-4″ of snow inland and a coating to 2″ along the immediate shoreline (less here because of shorter timeframe for snow to add up)," said WFSB 3 TV meteorologists. "After the switch, any freezing rain could lead to a light glaze of ice. Fortunately, it will fall atop a layer of snow. Temperatures warm into the lower 30s inland, mid to upper 30s at the shoreline where precip could end as a chilly rain. The system responsible for the variety of precipitation exits this afternoon.
