Yes, More Thunderstorms, Rain Forecast For CT: Here's When, Timeline

"Active weather" is in the forecast again for Connecticut. Here's the timeline, new details on more anticipated stormy weather.

CONNECTICUT — There is a chance for isolated rain showers and thunderstorms Thursday afternoon, but the odds increase for another round of storms and rain late tonight and Friday morning, according to forecasters.

The bulk of the rain and possibly storms is forecast after midnight and through the morning commute on Friday. Once the stormy weather tapers off on Friday afternoon, better weather arrives in time for the weekend, with sunshine and pleasant temperatures.

For northern Connecticut, the National Weather Service said, "Friday will feature a round of strong to severe storms in the morning and afternoon. The main hazards are damaging winds, large hail, and flash flooding, with a lower but still present risk of tornadoes."

And for southern Connecticut, the weather service says, showers will increase overnight and a "few embedded thunderstorms are possible with this activity...Certainly, locally heavy downpours are possible... Fortunately, activity looks to move fast enough to limit flood concern. WPC has a marginal risk for excessive rainfall nearly regionwide today and Friday, with perhaps some isolated flash flooding possible."

For Friday morning in southern Connecticut, the National Weather Service said we may "see a few strong to severe thunderstorms develop..." If storms develop, the primary concern will be "isolated damaging wind gusts. The bulk of the rain comes to an end in the morning...," according to the weather service.

WFSB 3 TV weather forecast updates

"Active weather visits us again, but briefly, and mainly late tonight into (Friday) morning," said WFSB 3 TV Chief Meteorologist Mark Dixon with Scot Haney. "The morning commute doesn’t look the greatest due to showers and storms. The biggest impacts could be reduced visibility on the roadways as well as some localized ponding under the heaviest downpours...we will be watching to see if a rogue stronger storm could bring strong wind gusts tomorrow, especially in the morning.

"The front swings through with significant changes behind it. Developing northwesterly wind will pull in drier air for the afternoon, pushing temperatures into the 80s as dew points drop. Open up those windows late tomorrow! Temperatures will be in the 50s by Saturday morning!" Dixon and Haney said. (Watch the full WFSB 3 TV weather forecast here).
