CONNECTICUT — The weather rollercoaster for us in Connecticut continues this week.

Wednesday features sunshine and temperatures into the upper 60s in parts of Connecticut, but then we're talking snowflakes in parts of the state by Friday morning, and some more snowflakes are possible on Monday.

Most of the state will only see rain from our next storm, but temperatures will drastically fall by Friday and strong wind gusts are also forecast.

Changing weather conditions from Wednesday to Thursday

"Today (the last day of winter), temperatures climb into the mid 60s away from Long Island Sound under a sunny skies! The onshore wind will keep shoreline towns in the upper 50s, but it will be a beautiful spring-like day no matter where you are located," WFSB 3 TV forecasters said.

"The vernal equinox occurs in the pre-dawn hours tomorrow (at 5:01 am), marking our transition to astronomical spring! Unfortunately, it will not feel much like spring. Onshore winds will lead to fog, drizzle and sprinkles through the day," added WFSB 3 TV forecasters. "High temperatures still reach the 50s ahead of an approaching cold front.

Our next storm arrives late Thursday/Friday

"As the front moves through, rain develops (on Thursday night). It could be moderate to heavy at times. It keeps pushing east, moving through Connecticut into Friday morning. With enough colder air being pulled in, some mixing across the NW Hills cannot be ruled out. There could be a coating across the highest elevations of NW CT, but impacts will be minimal," WFSB 3 TV forecasters said. "Friday afternoon will be drier, windy and notably cooler -- highs will only be in the mid and upper 40s, which is actually much closer to average!"

Weekend forecast details

"As we see it now, the weekend begins with partly to mostly cloudy skies. Saturday will be breezy with highs in the 50s. Isolated showers are possible. Sunday is trending cooler... while bright, high temperatures will likely be in the upper 40s," WFSB 3 TV forecasters said. (Read more at WFSB 3 TV).
