CT Weather: Rain Returns, Significant Temperature Changes Forecast

There will be a prolonged period of time when we could see rain, and we can expect some significant changes this weekend.

We can definitely use the rain, and it looks like we may receive a little bit tonight, Wednesday, Wednesday night, and early Thursday across Connecticut. It definitely won't be a washout, but whatever rain we receive will help.

"While high pressure keeps us dry today, it moves offshore tomorrow allowing moisture from that low to stream our way, leading to the possibility of isolated showers (not a washout)," said WFSB 3 TV meteorologists said. "Additionally, with the onshore/easterly wind flow, temperatures will be relatively cooler as they top out in the low to mid-70s (cooler along the shoreline, compared to inland areas). Tomorrow is also CT Day at the Big E in West Springfield, MA – most of the time should be dry, but a shower can’t be ruled out; otherwise, it’s mostly cloudy with highs in the mid-70s."

The National Weather Service said there is a 20/30 percent chance of rain Tuesday night, and that rises to around 50 percent on Wednesday and early Thursday. The weather service said some thunderstorms are possible in northern sections of the state.

Once the rain threat ends early Thursday morning, the sun will return and so will the warmer temperatures, with highs around 80 degrees.

"By Friday, we’re bright as a cold front moves through the region. Temps reach the lower 80s before cooler air arrives for the weekend," said WFSB 3 TV meteorologists.

"From UConn’s home game at The Rent to the Guilford or Orange fairs, the weather cooperates. In the wake of Friday’s cold front, expect some fall-like weather for the last weekend of astronomical summer! Saturday starts near 50 then temps only reach the lower 70s despite ample sunshine. Sunday begins on a chillier note, in the upper 40s; however, expect a nice rebound to between 70 and 75 during the afternoon hours," said WFSB 3 TV meteorologists. (Read more at WFSB 3 TV).
