Severe Thunderstorms Forecast: Timeline, New Details Released

New details and a timeline for severe weather has been released for Connecticut. Here's the full storm forecast details.

CONNECTICUT — Strong-to-severe thunderstorms are possible across Connecticut Monday night and up to two inches of rain is possible, according to forecasters.

"Isolated showers will be possible during the day, but most areas stay dry. This evening, we expect a more substantial round of rain in association with a cold front. This round of storms could produce strong wind gusts, especially across western CT. In fact, the Storm Prediction Center has upgraded SW CT to a level 2 out of 5 risk for severe storms and extended the level 1 risk to I-91. Because of this, we have issued a First Alert Weather Day effective this evening and into the overnight hours. Widespread rain is likely with poor travel conditions. Something you’ll need to prepare for if you are going somewhere to watch UConn Women’s Basketball. 1-2″ of rainfall is possible, so localized flooding can’t be ruled out," said WFSB 3 TV meteorologists.

More rain is expected Wednesday night and more sporadic rain showers are possible Thursday and Friday. And more rain is also possible on Saturday and Sunday too, according to forecasters. (Read more at WFSB 3 TV).
