Snow Accumulation Estimates Change: Here Are The New Predictions For Us
There have been some changes to the snow accumulation estimates for our weekend storm. Here are the latest predictions.
CONNECTICUT — Snow will begin to fall Saturday night, and it is expected to pile up quickly, and many areas of the state could see in excess of six inches of snow before the storm ends Sunday morning.
On Saturday morning snow accumulation estimates declined slightly to a projected 4 to 8 inches of snow but back on Saturday afternoon snow totals have inched back up again and a general 5 to 11 inches of snow is now forecast, according to the National Weather Service. (See below for the latest National Weather Service predictions).
"Snow develops a few hours after sunset from the southwest to the northeast. By 9 p.m., snow will be falling steadily statewide," said WFSB 3 TV meteorologists. "With temperatures in the 20s, snow will stick immediately. Roads will become slick quickly as visibility drops late this evening. Travel will become difficult, too; keep this in mind for heading home from evening plans! The heaviest snow will fall overnight. Snowfall rates (at times) could exceed 1″per hour! Snow continues Sunday morning through the pre-dawn hours, winding down after sunrise and wrapped up entirely before noon. Totals are expected to be between 6 and 10″ through all of inland Connecticut, 3-6″ along the immediate shoreline as a little bit of mixing will cut down on totals. IF there is lack of mixing, which is still a possibility, then amounts will be closer to 6-8″ near the shoreline. (Read more at WFSB 3 TV).

Update on snow for next week
"Tuesday, clouds will increase as another storm system develops," said WFSB 3 TV meteorologists. "Some of the newest data suggests the storm will graze Connecticut, or perhaps miss us to the south entirely. That would lead to lower snow totals locally and a lower impact overall. We’ll be monitoring this very closely. By Wednesday, temperatures will be in the 30s under a mix of sun and clouds. Beyond that, Thursday may feature another chance of snow -- or wintry mix -- across CT."
