Snow and ice accumulation estimates have been released for a storm on Saturday. Here are the new details.

In Connecticut, the story will be an initial burst of snow on Saturday afternoon, followed by a troublesome period of icing.

All the precipitation will inevitably change to plain rain on Sunday. Snow accumulation estimates have risen in Hartford and Litchfield counties specifically.

Storm updates via WFSB 3 TV meteorologists

"Tomorrow is initially dry with snow developing after noon. It will spread across CT from west to east. Snow will be steadiest and heaviest through the late evening, so be prepared for slick roads and low visibility if you’ll be out tomorrow past dark!

:By midnight, we’re forecasting 4-6″ of snow to have fallen inland, 2-4″ along the shoreline. Thereafter, an icy mix begins along the shoreline. The mixing line pushes inland through the pre-dawn hours Sunday as milder air moves in aloft. With cold air trapped throughout inland CT, an icy mix will develop while the shoreline sees plain rain. This will first be sleet (ice pellets, you can hear them ping) followed up by freezing rain (which clings, building up on surfaces like branches and power lines).

"By daybreak on Sunday, this icy mix will still be ongoing inland as the chilly rain continues in southern CT. The greatest accretion will be in the terrain of northwestern and northeastern CT, ending in the 0.10-0.25″ range. Should enough build up on branches, they could come down, leading to the risk of isolated outages. There may be a lull midday before a more potent round of rain passes through in the afternoon. Heavier rain in tandem with snowmelt Sunday could lead to nuisance type flooding." (Read more at WFSB 3 TV).
