CT Weather: Strong-To-Severe Thunderstorms, Heavy Rain Emerge In Forecast

Meteorologists said they are monitoring the threat for 'strong to severe' storms in Connecticut.

Thunderstorms and heavy rain will impact the state in the next couple of days, but the weekend is expected to be much nicer for outdoor activities, according to meteorologists.

WFSB 3 TV meteorologists are calling Thursday a “First Alert Weather Day,” due to the potential for heavy rain during the morning, which could impact commuters.

WFSB is predicting a lull in the precipitation Thursday, then more rain and potential storms starting around mid-day Thursday and into the evening.

The Durham Fair runs from Thursday through Sunday.

Heavy rain is expected

The precipitation is expected to wind down by early Friday. The state could get between one and two inches of rain by then, with locally higher amounts possible, according to WFSB. It cautioned that some areas may experience poor drainage flooding.

Pleasant weekend forecast

The last weekend of September is expected to be a pleasant one, according to WFSB and the National Weather Service. Friday will bring sunnier and less humid weather, and both Saturday and Sunday are expected to be dry and sunny, according to WFSB.

“Lows will be in the upper 50s with highs close to 80 both days, which is great news for outdoor activities!” WFSB reports.
