Timeline For More Severe Weather In CT Released: Here's What You Need To Know
A timeline for potentially severe weather on Thursday across Connecticut has been released. Here are the new details and what to expect.
CONNECTICUT — After a couple of days of tranquil weather, Thursday brings another chance of severe weather to Connecticut.
The National Weather Service said low pressure will "bring potential for heavy rainfall Thursday afternoon and evening, which could lead to localized to scattered areas of flash flooding."
"There is an isolated damaging wind and isolated tornado/water spout threat across eastern Long Island and southeast Connecticut. This threat could be expanded further north and west if the warm front sets up over the area," the weather service said.

The biggest concerns are the chance for flash flooding and up to two inches of rain across parts of Connecticut. Severe thunderstorms are also possible across parts of the state, which could include "Isolated damaging wind gusts."
The weather service said questions remain as to "The exact location of the heaviest rainfall" and said a flood watch may need to be issued later on Thursday.

WFSB 3 TV Meteorologist Mike Slifer wrote that Thursday morning will feature sunshine and rain should develop between 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. Thursday afternoon.
"As the low tracks near Long Island, heavier rain becomes likely," Slifer wrote. "Expect downpours to develop during and after the evening commute. Some ponding or localized flash flooding will be possible with this round of torrential rain. Rain totals could exceed an inch in some locations. Flood watches have been hoisted to our northeast, but no Connecticut counties are included. At the same time, some instability may build up just ahead of the low. If we can get this instability into CT, severe weather will be possible, with isolated instances of strong wind gusts near and along I-95. Timing would mostly be after 8 o’clock until about midnight."
He added that Friday looks excellent with the return of sunshine and there may be more storms on Saturday afternoon and evening and Sunday looks dry but cloudy. (Watch the full WFSB 3 TV weather forecast here).
