Major Changes To Weekend Weather Forecast In CT: Here's What You Need To Know

If you have outdoor weekend plans, here is an important update on a changing weather forecast for Connecticut.

CONNECTICUT — The weekend weather forecast in Connecticut is looking much better than it did a couple of days ago.

Two days ago, forecasters were predicting more than 2 inches of rain and wind on Saturday and Sunday due to a low pressure system.

And now, forecasters say the heavy rain is expected to remain just to the south of Connecticut, and areas along the immediate coast may see the most rain, maybe a quarter to a half inch in total, while northern sections may see just a few rain showers on Saturday afternoon.

Additionally, any rain that falls should end early Sunday, and the sun should reappear.

The National Weather Service said the best chance for any rain on Saturday is after 2-3 p.m. and any rain that falls on Saturday won't lead to a washout.

WFSB 3 TV Meteorologists Jill Gilardi with Scot Haney wrote said "The latest model trends indicate rain ramping up as Saturday progresses. Both long range models are coming into better agreement that Saturday starts off dry and rain will begin AFTER the Hartford Marathon and the other races happening that morning. The EURO is wetter across the state compared to the GFS, which has rain clipping the southwest portion of the state. There is still hope we trend drier. Rain either lingers through Saturday evening or exits then, and either way trends drier by Sunday. Sunday starts off cloudy, then it will become partly sunny, and breezy.
