Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued On Halloween In CT: Here's Why, What To Know

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Connecticut today because of the wind.
For southern Connecticut, a wind advisory is in effect today from noon through midnight. For northern Connecticut, the timing for the advisory is later, between 2 p.m. today and 5 a.m. Saturday morning,

The National Weather Service anticipates winds of 20 to 30 miles per hour, with gusts of up to 45 miles per hour, and isolated gusts as high as 50 miles per hour.
“Gusty winds will blow around Halloween decorations and other unsecured objects,” an alert states. “Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.”

It advises Connecticut residents to secure outdoor objects.
WFSB is calling today a “First Alert Weather Day” because of the wind, and it is predicting gusts of between 40 and 50 miles per hour later today through tonight.
“The strength of the wind could lead to isolated power outages,” WFSB reports. The station indicated the wind could potentially impact Halloween plans.
It will be dry for trick-or-treating, and temperatures will be in the lower 50s, but the wind could make it seem colder, according to WFSB and the National Weather Service.
Weekend forecast details
The weekend is expected to be sunny on both Saturday and Sunday, according to the National Weather Service. It will start out windy, with gusts reaching up to 24 to 31 miles per hour on Saturday, before calming down to about 10 miles per hour on Sunday. Daytime temperatures both days will reach to the upper 50s, the National Weather Service predicts.
More rain possible next week
The next chance for rain comes on Monday night, while Election Day on Tuesday is expected to be dry and sunny, according to the National Weather Service and WFSB.
