High Heat, Strong Storms, Smoke To Impact CT: Here's When, What To Expect

There is a lot going on in the weather forecast this week for Connecticut. Here's everything you need to know.

CONNECTICUT — The first half of the work week will be hot and humid, with another round of thunderstorms expected mid-week, according to meteorologists.

The National Weather service has heat advisories in effect through Wednesday evening, urging people to seek air conditioning and drink plenty of fluids. Those who work outdoors should take frequent breaks, it advises.

WFSB 3 TV reports temperatures will reach into the 90s today through Wednesday, prompting the station to issue three First Alert Weather Days.

Today will also be muggy, but less humid compared to the next couple of days, according to WFSB.

The station anticipates that Canadian wildfire smoke will return aloft and at ground level, negatively impacting air quality in Connecticut.

On Tuesday, heat and humidity will be higher, with temperatures in the mid to upper 90s, and “oppressive” humidity, making it feel like it is in the triple digits, according to WFSB. The station is forecasting a high of 97, which would break the Hartford record of 96, set in 1933.

Thunderstorms emerge on Wednesday

Wednesday is expected to continue to be hot and humid, and then WFSB reports a cold front will arrive.

“A cold front begins moving in on Wednesday PM and will spark a few showers and storms, some of which could be locally strong,” WFSB meteorologists said.

Beautiful weekend of weather ahead of us

The station anticipates that precipitation could linger later this week, followed by a “gorgeous” first weekend in August with sunny skies and lower temperatures and humidity.

“This weekend has all the makings of a ‘Top 10’ summer weekend from start to finish!” the station reports.
