The recognition places HOCC in the top 5% of hospitals in the country and as an overall leader in clinical excellence, according to Healthgrades.

“We are honored to receive this recognition from Healthgrades. It underscores the high standard of safe, quality care that we provide to our patients every day,” said Gary Havican, Hospital of Central Connecticut president. “Receiving this recognition, during a pandemic, highlights our continued commitment to the communities that matter most to us.”

Of the 4,500 hospitals nationwide Healthgrades considered, three Hartford HealthCare hospitals in total were named in the final 250. The other two were William W. Backus and Hartford Hospital. The Hospital of Central Connecticut and Hartford Hospital are the only “America’s Best” recipients in the greater Hartford area.

“This honor is a true testament to all of my colleagues at HOCC, and I am grateful for their dedication and clinical excellence,” Havican said.

To assess overall hospital performance, Healthgrades reviewed outcomes across more than 31 of the most common procedures and conditions. Recipients of this award have consistently delivered better than expected outcomes for their patients.
