ICE Deports Fugitive Wanted For Shooting In Jamaica
The man was turned over to Jamaican authorities Jan. 30, according to the government.

CONNECTICUT — Federal agents have deported a Jamaican man who is wanted in his home country in connection with a shooting.
Leroy Neville White, 30, was turned over to Jamaican authorities Jan. 30, officials with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced Wednesday.
Patricia H. Hyde, acting field office director for ICE Boston, said White attempted to flee justice in his home country, then “continued to break the law in Connecticut.”

“White is a violent criminal and (he) presented a significant threat to the residents of our neighborhoods,“ Hyde said.
Jamaican authorities issued a warrant for White’s arrest on Dec. 31, 2018, for the offense of shooting with intent, according to ICE.

The U.S. Border Patrol arrested White in July 2022 and accused him of illegally entering the country. An immigration judge in 2023 ordered that White be sent back to Jamaica, officials said.
New Haven police charged White in December 2023 on a threatening count, and ICE put an immigration detainer on him, according to the government. White was convicted of the threatening charge in April 2024 and sentenced to five years in prison, suspended after one year served, with three years of probation.
ICE officers arrested White at the Hartford Correctional Center after he served his state sentence.
