Man Struck Walking On I-395 In Griswold After Prior Accident: Police

The pedestrian suffered minor injuries, according to state police.

GRISWOLD, CT — A man was hit by an SUV while walking on I-395 late Saturday after being involved in a prior accident with his own vehicle, according to state police.

Police said a 2025 Kia Sportage struck the man, a 28-year-old Worcester, Mass. resident, in the right lane of the highway.

The man suffered minor injuries and was taken to Backus Hospital for treatment, according to police.

The secondary accident happened around 10:39 p.m. The Kia, operated by a 50-year-old Jewett City woman, was traveling southbound in the right lane when it struck the man.

Police said the man walked into the highway’s right lane, and the Kia was “unable to avoid a collision with the pedestrian.”

None of the occupants of the Kia were injured, police said.
