Motorist Reports Knifepoint Robbery In Plymouth: PD
The driver told police she was accosted after getting out of her car, according to police.
PLYMOUTH, CT — A motorist told police she was robbed at knifepoint Sunday afternoon after she hit a tree limb and got out to inspect for damage.
The incident happened around 3 p.m. near the intersection of Mount Tobe Road and Watchtower Road, police said.
The woman walked into the police station just before 4 p.m. Sunday to report the armed robbery. According to police, the woman initially drove to the Thomaston Police Department for help after escaping the robber.

The woman told police she was driving home when she struck a tree limb in the road. She pulled over and got out to inspect whether there was any damage to her vehicle. At that point, police said the woman was grabbed by a man who held a knife to her throat and searched her pockets.
The robber stole about $1,800 cash before the victim broke free and fled, according to police.

Emergency medical personnel treated the woman for minor injuries, police said.
The woman described the suspect as a tall, heavyset black male, weighing about 200 pounds, and wearing dark clothing, gloves and a ski mask.
“The victim did not observe any nearby vehicles and believes the suspect fled the area on foot,” police said.
An investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call the Plymouth Police Department at 860-589-7779.
Police have increased area patrols as a precaution. The department urged residents to be aware of their surroundings. If there is debris or a potential hazard in the road, consider remaining in your vehicle and contacting authorities for help if possible, police said.
