ROCHESTER, MI — The Home Bakery in Rochester unveiled Monday a new Detroit Lions window cake display.

The large cake was made entirely in-house by a team of 24 bakers and artists, who totaled more than 400 hours. They used eight cases of Rice Krispie treats, four sheet cakes, a substantial amount of buttercream and 65 pounds of fondant to create the display.

Heather Tocco, owner and master cake artist of The Home Bakery, said the display is designed to celebrate Detroit pride and bring the community together.
"This window isn’t about a game or a season, it’s about people," Tocco said. "We saw firsthand how something as simple as a window could bring strangers together, spark conversations and create joy. That sense of community is something Detroit does better than anywhere else."

The bakery plans to keep the display up through the end of February. They do however encourage guests to visit earlier, because the black fondant elements will fade over time due to natural sunlight. So the early weeks will be the most vibrant viewing period.
The Lions finished 9-8 and missed the playoffs, ending a disappointing season after reaching the postseason the previous two years. They now turn their head toward the NFL Draft and the offseason.
