CT Weather: Another Heat Wave Begins As Strong Storms Emerge In Forecast
You'll want to get outside Wednesday and enjoy the nice weather, as major changes are on the horizon for us.
CONNECTICUT — Weather forecasters say oppressive heat is back in the forecast starting Thursday, with the potential for storms at the end of the week.
The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for southern Connecticut beginning on Thursday due to the predicted heat and humidity. It anticipates the heat index will make it feel like 105 degrees on Friday, and between 95 and 100 on Thursday and Saturday.
For northern Connecticut, the National Weather Service has a heat advisory in effect starting at 11 a.m. Thursday through 8 p.m. on Friday. It anticipates heat indices up to 95 on Thursday, and up to 103 on Friday.

WFSB reports Wednesday will be the last “dry, bright, and comfortable day” of this week.
Heat wave begins again
Thursday will be both warmer and muggier, the station reports, with temperatures expected to soar to the upper 80s along the shoreline and in the low 90s inland. Combined with increasing humidity, WFSB predicts the heat index values will rise into the mid-90s, prompting WFSB to issue a First Alert Weather Day on Thursday.
On Friday, WFSB is predicting potential record heat for the state and “oppressive” humidity.
The current record for the Hartford area is 98 degrees, set in 2001, and WFSB is forecasting it will reach 97 degrees. For Bridgeport, the record is 93 degrees, set the same year, according to the station, which is predicting another day of 93 degrees.
Strong storms possible on Friday
“Heat index values will top out in the lower triple digits!” WFSB reported. “Friday is also a *First Alert Weather Day* as outdoor plans will be impacted, and heat-related illness becomes a concern. There is also a chance for strong storms, particularly later in the day, in advance of a cold front.”
WFSB anticipates Saturday will be a primarily dry day, with isolated showers, and less heat and humidity due to temperatures reaching the mid to upper 80s. WFSB predicts a potential round of rain and storms on Sunday.
