Popular Connecticut TV News Anchor Leaves Station

She's leaving to join another station not too far away.

Reporter and fill-in anchor Marcy Jones, who joined WFSB-TV four years ago, recently left the Rocky Hill-based station for a new gig one state over.

Jones left to join News 12 New York as a morning anchor, she announced with a short video on her Instagram page.

She follows former WFSB anchor Nicole Nalepa, who left the station last month.

Hired by the station in September 2021, Jones, a Connecticut native, worked at Fox 10 Phoenix in Arizona for four years before returning home for the WFSB job.

She graduated from the School of Broadcast Journalism at the University of Arizona, and has worked as a morning reporter for KGAN/KFXA in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Changing beats

In other television reporting news, NBC Connecticut reporter Jennifer Joas is changing beats, going from morning reporter to consumer investigative reporter at the station, The Laurel reported.

Joas made the announcement of the new job in a post on Facebook.

"I'm thrilled to take my 15 years of reporting experience (10 at NBC CT) and advocate for you," she wrote.

Before joining NBC Connecticut, Joas worked at WFMZ 69 News in Reading, Pennsylvania, and at KFYR-TV and KUMV-TV, both in North Dakota, according to her bio.
