Seymour Eatery Catches Fire Over Weekend: FD

The cause of the blaze, which also damaged a neighboring restaurant, remains under investigation as of Monday.

SEYMOUR, CT — A Sunday morning fire caused significant damage to two restaurants on New Haven Avenue, according to the fire department.

Fire Chief Christopher Edwards said firefighters were dispatched Sunday around 7:40 a.m. for a structure fire at Hot Grill & Pizza, at 59 New Haven Ave.

When they arrived, the fire inside the business had extended into the attic. Firefighters forced entry and extinguished the blaze.

According to Edwards, the interior of Hot Grill & Pizza sustained significant damage.

Heavy smoke also impacted the neighboring business, Seymour Garden, a Chinese restaurant, according to Edwards.

Repairs will need to be made before the businesses will be able to reopen.

The businesses were closed at the time of the fire, and no one was injured, according to the fire department.

The Seymour Fire Marshal’s Office has an ongoing investigation into the fire’s cause.
