Sports Anchor Returns Home To Connecticut

The Connecticut native most recently had been anchoring a sports newscast in Nebraska.

Matt Sottile, a Connecticut native, announced last week that he is joining NBC Connecticut as a sports anchor.

"Connecticut, I’m coming home!" Sottile wrote on Facebook. Over the weekend, he drove 1,400 miles in a Uhaul truck to make it back.

"I’m thrilled to announce that I’m joining NBC Connecticut as a Sports Anchor.

"So thrilled you are back, and I am very proud!" wrote Sottile's mother, Liz Sikes Sottile.

A Boston College grad, Sottile had been a sports reporter at KETV in Omaha, Nebraska for more than two years before landing the NBC Connecticut gig.

While at BC, Sottile was the emcee and public address announcer for men's hockey games.

Prior to his stint in Nebraska, Sottile spent a couple of years at Western Mass News in Springfield, Massachusetts, where he was a weekend anchor and multimedia journalist.

"Have known Matt since he was at BC and helping out with summer yard work," wrote Bob Alexander. "A talented, solid citizen and a great addition to the NBCTv team. The listening audience is going to love him. Congrats to Matt and NBC for a great hire."
