SUV Plows Into Liquor Store In Putnam: Police

A motorist lost control of her vehicle and struck the business, according to police.

PUTNAM, CT — An SUV crashed into Sunny Discount Liquors Saturday morning, causing significant damage to the building and business, according to police.

The accident happened around 6:40 a.m. Emergency personnel were alerted through a 911 call that a vehicle had struck the building at 150 Providence St.

According to police, Alexis Marjorie, 29, of Putnam, was operating a 2005 Toyota Rav4 westbound on Providence Street when she lost control of the vehicle, left the roadway and struck the building.

The impact caused significant damage to a corner of the building, and also damaged the business’ products inside.

Putnam emergency medical personnel evaluated Marjorie and her adult passenger at the scene. Both declined medical transport, according to police.

Marjorie was issued an infraction for traveling too fast for conditions, police said.

The Putnam building official and fire marshal determined the business will need to remain closed until damage to the building can be repaired.
