WTNH News 8 Adding New, Unique 4 P.M. Newscast Beginning Monday

Legendary News Anchor Ann Nyberg said she "waited a news lifetime to do a show like this, with these folks."

CONNECTICUT — WTNH News 8 in Connecticut has been embarking on significant changes this summer and that will continue next week with the launch of a new, unique 4 p.m. newscast.

On July 10, it was announced that Legendary News Anchor Ann Nyberg was moving from the late night newscasts to the afternoon and evening telecasts. Anchor Lisa Carberg has replaced Nyberg at 10 and 11 p.m.

Nyberg has been anchoring the nightly telecasts at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. She is also the anchor for the station's noon newscast. All of the above changes were first reported by The Laurel.

On social media this week, Nyberg announced the next phase of changes at WTNH News 8. On Monday, Aug. 21, Nyberg is hosting a new 4 p.m. "unscripted and informative," newscast with Darren Kramer and Kathryn Hauser.

"Between us we have 7 children, and three grand children, we know a thing or two, or make that "three." I may or may not have waited a news lifetime to do a show like this, with these folks," Nyberg wrote on social media.

So what is the new 4 p.m. newscast?

Nyberg explains that "It will be a mix of news, stories that will help you and your family, help for your communities, and fun items too. We are thinking outside the box on this one, we know a lot of you work from home now, and might need some inspiration during that time of the day. We have assembled Darren Kramer, yes, that is his real hair, Kathryn Hauser, whom you will love to get to know, and me. The three of us represent the real world, Darren has two kids getting married, Kathryn has two little ones and juggles all of that with work, and me, I'm the "Nana" of the bunch...three grand babies that I am blessed to say all live in Connecticut. We all have quite the sense of humor, you'll get to see that, and we'll get to know you too."
