For example, the organization helps people coping with reduced working hours, illness, divorce, death of a spouse/mate, domestic abuse, or a significant unexpected increase in expenses.

"They are hardworking people who simply cannot make ends meet," wrote Gifts of Love on its website. "By assisting our clients with food, clothes, and energy assistance, we allow them to use their income on other necessities such as rent, car repairs, and medications."

The Avon Food Pantry, which is located at Saint Ann's Church, 289 Arch Road, Avon, provides emergency food assistance to locals facing economic hardship.

“These are two wonderful organizations that will put the money to good use,” said Susan Reynolds, Liberty Bank’s branch manager in Avon. “They make our community a better place, and we are happy to support them.”

Overall, Liberty Bank is donating a total of $87,600 to 48 organizations. The organizations were selected by Liberty Bank customers. More than 10,000 votes were tallied.

“It’s very important for Liberty to give back to invest in the community,” said Liberty Bank President and Chief Executive Officer David W. Glidden. “We would not be around for two centuries if it weren’t for the people and organizations that have supported us. We are celebrating this milestone anniversary by paying it forward.”
