The event, called a 'Daring Dialogue,' will take place on Wednesday, June 18, at the Avon Senior Center.

AVON, CT — The town's senior citizen community is hosting a special program on Wednesday delving into the topic of agism and ableism, both locally and in general.

The Avon Senior Center will be the site of what it is called a "Daring Dialogue," in partnership with the Connecticut Age Well Collaborative.

This free workshop will bring community members and local leaders together to explore and challenge assumptions about aging and disability.

Guests will "explore how ageism and ableism impact our lives, communities, and leadership."

The program is especially geared toward municipal and community leaders, as well as anyone who has experienced or seen agism and ableism.

While the program is free, participants are asked to register in advance, as space is limited.

"Daring Dialogues are not public forums or town halls. They are not designed for community members to voice complaints and concerns to government officials," wrote event organizers.

"They are a space for collective discovery and growth toward positive change."
