Art Show Demonstrates Thriving Avon Art Community

The annual spring Avon Arts Association Show is an opportunity to give local artists exposure and educate people about the organization, according to Membership Chairwoman Carolyn Robbin.

This year, the art show runs until June 7 at the Avon Free Public Library in the front art gallery hallway.

"It's important to have an active arts community in any town. With the new library addition having this gallery space, it is wonderful to be able to have an annual exhibit in Avon again," said Robbin, who noted that in recent years the event has been at Simsbury's public library. "Also the paintings are for sale if anyone wishes to purchase."

The art show is open to any members.

Library patrons and area residents can also vote on their favorite piece, which will determine which artist wins the "best in show" award, Robbin said.
