Avon Band To Perform Free Show Thursday Evening (Tentatively)

The Avon Recreation and Parks Department's 'Summer Concert Series' continues Thursday, July 31, with a rain date slated for Friday, Aug. 1.

AVON, CT — The Avon Recreation and Parks Department's summer concert series has yet another show tentatively planned for later this week at the Avon Town Green.

The Avon-based band "The Substitutes" will perform on the green, located at West Main Street/Ensign Drive, from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 31, for a free show.

"Join us for a rockin’ summer night with The Substitutes, a local Avon band bringing the vibes to the Avon Town Green on July 31," wrote the Avon Recreation and Parks Department.

"The Kitchen" by Keri's food truck will be on hand to sell food and beverages for those who are hungry, according to the parks department.

"Bring a lawn chair, grab your friends, and support local talent under the summer sky," wrote the town.

Should Thursday's summer skies erupt in rain, however, the concert will take place on Friday, Aug. 1, at the same time and location.

The rain date seems to be in play, with weather forecasts calling for potentially heavy precipitation on Thursday.
