Avon Getting New Chief Of Police In July: Report
Officials have chosen Paul Melanson, Farmington's current police chief, to lead the Avon Police Department, the Hartford Courant reported.
AVON, CT — Officials have chosen Avon's next police chief, and he comes to town with 13 years of experience leading the Farmington Police Department, the Hartford Courant reported.
Paul Melanson, who currently serves as Farmington's police chief, will start as Avon's chief of police on July 2, the newspaper reported. The town "quickly honed in on him as the top choice" in a candidate pool, according to the Courant's report.
Melanson will replace Jim Rio, who has served as Avon's director of police services since November 2019, the Courant said.
