Veteran Avon Police Officer Earns Big Promotion

AVON, CT — The Avon Police Department has a new leader within its ranks following a recent promotion ceremony.

The APD Dec. 12 swore in veteran officer Erin Connole to the new rank of sergeant.

"Accompanied by fellow Officers and family, we were able to celebrate this great achievement," wrote the Avon PD in a social media post.

Her promotion came the same year she traveled and raised money to support Special Olympics.

Connole has been selected as a final leg runner for the Law Enforcement Torch Run for the Special Olympics World Games in Turin, Italy, in March.

It required Connole to travel to Italy and be part of a team of 80 law enforcers and Special Olympians

The final leg was a team of 80 police officers and Special Olympics Athletes from around the world, and they carriedthe "Flame of Hope" across Italy. For 11 days.
